Composer | Bobby Kennedy
As well as being the drummer for multi-platinum selling New Zealand band Opshop, Bobby Kennedy's experience spans more than 20 years writing, producing and performing music.
From the theme song for the iconic children's television show "What Now?", to the soundtrack for the gothic horror "The Masque of the Red Death" (eBook), Bobby has much experience in composition for various music genres and media. Bobby has also written and produced music for many short films and documentries; and he is a multiple nominee and one time co-winner of New Zealand's premier songwriting award - The Silver Scroll.
In the early nineties, Bobby studied music at the CPIT in Christchurch New Zealand before embarking on a career in contemporary music. Taking up drumming duties with critically acclaimed pop outfit "The Stereo Bus" in 1997, he also played a short stint with Neil Finn (Crowded House) before co-founding multi-platinum selling New Zealand band Opshop in 2001.
Bobby has worked on recording projects with Neil Finn, Dave Yetton's (The Jean Paul Satre Experience, The Stereo Bus) solo album "Blow out your Candles" , and the Marshmallow self titled album featuring Ron Sexsmith and Bic Runga (fronted by Alan Greg former bass player for The Muttonbirds).
In 2009, Bobby completed a course of study on Film Scoring with Berklee College of Music out of Boston USA in 2009. He has guest tutored on film music at The Unitec School of Performing Arts in Auckland.
